mental illness, trauma or addiction, or simply interested in
self-exploration
to enhance the quality of your life, you've come to the right place.
I look forward to connecting with you and assisting you on your journey of healing
and self-discovery.
Experience: I am a Licensed Professional Counselor,
licensed by the State of Missouri,
and Nationally Board Certified. I have over 20
years of experience working with clients whose
issues range from everyday stressors (divorce,
grief, employment) to major life disruptions
(sexual and/or physical abuse, addictions,
phobias, panic attacks) to serious mental
disorders (depression, bipolar disorder, DID).
My clinical specialties include sexual abuse,
trauma, women's issues and addictions. I have
extensive experience in group counseling, as
well as individual, couples and family
counseling.
In addition, I am an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate Counseling Program at Lindenwood University.
Education:
I have a BS in Counseling from the Institute for the Study of Drugs,
Alcohol and Addictive Behaviors in Denver, Colorado. I have a Masters in Counseling from University of
Missouri - St. Louis. I am trained in EMDR, and post-graduate training includes the treatment of
trauma, sexual abuse, PTSD, DID, grief and loss, and eating disorders.
Counseling Philosophy:
I use a holistic, feminist, humanistic approach
to counseling. The holistic approach addresses the mind/body/spirit
connection and recognizes that connection as central to the healing
process. The feminist therapy model embraces an egalitarian
relationship between therapist/client and encourages feedback and
interaction. A humanistic approach recognizes that each client has all
the answers within themselves, and a therapists role is to help the client
connect with that wise part of self and access those answers. The
therapist also provides psycho-education and support, and teaches new
coping skills and resources. I am committed to providing each client with
the safety, guidance and support necessary for recovery.
